The weather is getting warmer (for now!) in Chicago and it has me so excited to put away my leather jackets and pull out all my dresses. As the summer months approach and the temperatures/humidity start to rise, I tend to reach for lightweight, throw on and go pieces that are perfect for beating the heat. My wardrobe tends to get more colorful and bold this time of year which is always a nice change from the black and grey I wear all winter long!
This linen dress from Old Navy is just what my closet needed – a pop of color mixed with an off-the-shoulder style that’s comfortable and actually stays on your shoulders. I wore this for a good chunk of the day recently and it barely wrinkled. I’m thinking about buying it in black as well! I’m all for printed neck scarves lately and this one with the bold pattern was love at first sight. These scarves also come in handy as accessories too — don’t be afraid to tie one on to your purse handle!
This dress has me dreaming of warm summer days spent outside! I’ll definitely be packing this entire outfit in my suitcase next week as we head back to Boca Grande for Memorial Day weekend. Scroll down to see what else I’m loving from Old Navy at the moment!
It’s hard to believe our wedding has come and gone! We got back on Monday night after having spent a week in Boca Grande, Florida celebrating with family and friends. We are still on a high from all of the fun we had and the amount of love and support we received from everyone who traveled to be with us. I posted a few photos from the wedding over on my Instagram, and once I get the professional photos back from our photographer I will be posting a more detailed story on the blog! Stay tuned. It was truly a magical wedding and we are so excited to start this new chapter as husband and wife aka Mr. and Mrs. Smith!
We are taking our honeymoon in September so we are looking forward to that! (More details to come later) Now we plan to focus on designing our future home. We are excited to finalize all the design and decor details and officially move into our new place come June/July. Lots of exciting things on the horizon!
We got back to warm weather in Chicago and everything was in bloom. Spring flowers make me so happy! It had me so excited to wear all the warm-weather pieces I bought for our wedding week. I’ve been gravitating towards all of the off-the-shoulder style tops and dresses this season. I recently picked up is this red top I’m wearing from Zara (sold out, similar here) and I’ve been wearing these white jeans (under $25) non-stop since I got them! I dressed this outfit up but it would also look great worn casually for brunch with a flat sandal or espadrille. Lately I haven’t been buying too much color, but I love how bright and cheery this pop of red looks against white jeans.
On another note, if anyone has any tips on how to easily change your name after you get married, send them my way via email (email@example.com). Thanks for stopping by!
Is there anything more classic than a blue and white striped skirt? I love finding a versatile piece for a new season that can be worn a few different ways, so when I came across this one from H&M, I had to snatch it up. Sadly it’s now sold out, but I found a very similar one here. I styled it with the most comfortable wedges, a basic black tee and a fun pom pom tote for a casual daytime outfit. The next time I wear this skirt, I plan on pairing it with stan smith sneakers and a white tee for brunch in the city. It would also make for a great swim coverup over a one-piece- Talk about versatility!
Yesterday I got to Boca Grande, Florida for our wedding week! Drew doesn’t get in town until Wednesday due to work, so I’ll be relaxing with my family until he arrives. We have a few dinners planned, massages scheduled, and basically just a whole lot of relaxing before the big day. Doesn’t get much better than that! We are so excited for our wedding day and looking forward to celebrating with our family and friends come next weekend! We didn’t hire a wedding planner besides a day of coordinator, so it will be fun to see all of our hard work and creativity come alive on the big day.
