Happy Monday guys! I just got back today from the ultimate girls getaway in Napa. It was the best weekend with 8 of my favorite gals, celebrating our 30th birthdays this year. Mine is quickly approaching on June 30th and I’m excited to embrace this new year and decade! This trip officially kicked off the start of my summer travels and I can already tell that summer ’17 is going to be one for the books. We spent two full days in Napa and I plan on recapping the trip with a whole travel guide in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
We checked out of our hotel on Sunday and had brunch at an awesome spot in downtown Napa called Celadon. After brunch we hit the road and drove towards the city, stopping in Sausalito for a post brunch cocktail before heading into San Francisco. If you aren’t familiar with Sausalito, it’s a quiet little coastal town just outside San Francisco right on the water. The downtown is super charming with tons of restaurants, bars and shops. We ended up having a couple drinks at Barrel House Tavern overlooking the water, then walked to Bar Bocce for to check out the marina and gorgeous views.
This comfortable jumpsuit was the perfect option after a weekend of indulging in lots of wine and cheese in Napa. Effortless, flowy and versatile, a black jumpsuit was at the top of my summer wish list, so when I saw this one from Old Navy, I had to have it! You can’t go wrong with the classic black and neutral look for effortless day to night dressing and summer celebrations.
I’m so excited to be sharing with you guys this charming hotel in one of my favorite places – Boca Grande. We stayed here for two nights during our wedding and enjoyed every second. My in-laws have a home here, however it wasn’t until our wedding that we got to experience all that The Gasparilla Inn has to offer. Located on the Gulf of Mexico in South Florida, Boca Grande is a quaint island that stretches a mere seven miles and is filled with endless charm, white sandy beaches, crystal clear water and beautiful homes. This little historic island is a true getaway, and there’s a reason it’s quickly become our new happy place. The easiest way to get here is to fly into Fort Myers, FL and drive a little over an hour to get to your final destination.
The Gasparilla Inn is the main hotel in Boca Grande and is centrally located on the island. As soon as you turn the corner towards the hotel you immediately feel at ease….it’s like you are transported back in time and living in a dream. What’s not to love about this place? A super chic hotel with darling decor, upscale dining, friendly staff, spacious rooms and endless amenities including a beach club, fitness center, tennis & croquet make this place a luxurious and unforgettable stay. You’re officially on island time in Boca Grande.
Come discover your new happy place at The Gasparilla Inn…..See below for a sneak peek inside the hotel, my favorite recommendations while you’re there and what I wore. Time to book a trip! Until next time, Florida…..
There are accommodations for everyone at the Inn. The hotel has a variety of rooms and suites, in addition to cottages for larger groups.
see & DO
Rent a golf cart from The Inn during your stay. This is the best (and most fun) way to get around the island!
Spend the day at the beach! The Gasparilla Inn’s Beach Club is as picturesque as it gets. With their signature yellow and white cabana stripe towels and umbrellas, this place is a sun lover’s dream.
Get pampered! The Gasparilla Inn Spa is located on the beach side. Treat yourself to a massage or body treatment. Their signature treatment called ‘ A Touch of Gasparilla ‘ was one of the best massages I’ve ever had.
Play croquet & tennis or hit up the 18 hole golf course, exclusively open to guests at the Inn.
Shop ’til you drop! The Inn is conveniently located in the middle of the island, only a short walk from the main town. From local Boca Grande boutiques and shops to signature stores like J. McLaughlin and Lily Pulitzer, there is something for everyone.
Rent paddle boards and kayaks at the beach. Best way to stay active during your stay!
eat & drink
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast or dinner in the main dining room at the Inn. It’s a palm lover’s paradise! The room boasts rattan furniture and palm print upholstered chairs and couches – so much design inspiration here!
Grab coffee and sweets at The Inn Bakery. Tip: this place is cash only.
Eat lunch poolside or beach front at the Beach Club. Their chicken salad salad and margarita is delicious!
Have lunch alfresco at The Pink Elephant. This is my favorite spot for lunch on the island. I can’t leave Boca Grande without having a glass of rose, pimento cheese appetizer and tuna tartare here!
Hi ladies! Hope you all had a wonderful long holiday weekend! I don’t know about you, but I’ve definitely needed some extra caffeine to get me through the days this week. I tried a matcha latte for the first time and LOVED it! I can’t believe I waited this long to try one. I’ll definitely be ordering these on the regular from now on. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that Drew and I spent Memorial Day weekend in Boca Grande! We had such a blast being back on the island post wedding with lots of relaxation time – can’t believe it’s been over a month since we were married there! We are patiently waiting for our professional photos to come back in a few weeks. Now it’s back to reality with a busy month ahead! Can’t wait for the official start of summer and warm weather.
Anyway, on to this outfit. I just picked up this romper from Nordstrom and I am obsessed. Can you blame me? By now you know I’m a sucker for a little bohemian style with an edge, and this one had me at hello. The lace up back is everything and the crochet detailing adds a little boho feminine touch. I am all about simple rompers in the summer – they are the perfect way to transition into the warmer months because you can easily wear them with your favorite jackets – denim, suede and leather jackets all work well for a chic look. This romper looks just as great with heels as it would with a flat sandal or slide.
I’ve also linked to 10 summer rompers here that I’m especially loving.
Which one is your favorite? Hope you’re having a great week!
The weather is getting warmer (for now!) in Chicago and it has me so excited to put away my leather jackets and pull out all my dresses. As the summer months approach and the temperatures/humidity start to rise, I tend to reach for lightweight, throw on and go pieces that are perfect for beating the heat. My wardrobe tends to get more colorful and bold this time of year which is always a nice change from the black and grey I wear all winter long!
This linen dress from Old Navy is just what my closet needed – a pop of color mixed with an off-the-shoulder style that’s comfortable and actually stays on your shoulders. I wore this for a good chunk of the day recently and it barely wrinkled. I’m thinking about buying it in black as well! I’m all for printed neck scarves lately and this one with the bold pattern was love at first sight. These scarves also come in handy as accessories too — don’t be afraid to tie one on to your purse handle!
This dress has me dreaming of warm summer days spent outside! I’ll definitely be packing this entire outfit in my suitcase next week as we head back to Boca Grande for Memorial Day weekend. Scroll down to see what else I’m loving from Old Navy at the moment!
