At Home with Vinebox

It officially feels like Fall in Chicago and we’re getting settled into our new home! We’ve been enjoying cozy nights at home cooking, relaxing and drinking wine. I become a homebody around this time of year so I love casual nights at home with Drew and friends. With our summer days of sipping rosé behind us, I’ve been turning to a variety of red wines. I love discovering new wines so when I got introduced to a new wine-by-the-glass subscription service, I was intrigued. It’s the perfect option for tasting wine from the best wineries around the world, without committing to a full bottle. And especially great for entertaining guests. If you’re looking to expand your palate and discover new wines then you should definitely check out VINEBOX!

how it works

Vinebox is a wine-by-the-glass subscription service. Each month you receive a curated box of three or six glasses of wine (depending on how much you want each month) from small European wine producers. These are wines you won’t find in your local grocery store. The presentation and branding is awesome too. The box includes tasting cards with food pairing recommendations, fun facts about the wine and tasting notes. It’s nice having these cards to reference while you’re tasting – it’s like you’re at your own personal winery in the comfort of your home! You can choose from a mix of red and white, or just red/white, whatever floats your boat.

Boxes start at $25 per month and shipping is free. It’s basically like buying one nice bottle of wine a month, but getting to taste a few different wines while learning something new. One of my favorite wines in the box was a powerful Malbec from France, with hints of plum, black cherry, dense spice and good grip. Since I’m more of a red wine drinker, it was fun getting to taste a few whites that I normally wouldn’t order or buy. Once you become a member, you can favorite the ones you love, and even buy the bottles directly from their website – total perk since you can’t buy these locally.

As a special offer to my readers, VINEBOX is offering a 10% discount on memberships when you sign up with the code HOUSE10. You can sign up for a VINEBOX membership HERE. First you’ll take a quick quiz to curate your preferences then you can choose the type of membership you want. Not only is VINEBOX a cool way to discover unique wines for yourself, it would make a great gift for the holiday season.

My Top 9 Sources for Throw Pillows

how to decorate with throw pillows

vintage throw pillows, best places to buy pillows online

Now that we’re all unpacked in the new house, it’s time to decorate – the best part! Decor is what makes a house a home, and hunting for unique accents is one of my favorite things to do. Right now, I’m currently sourcing throw pillows for our bedroom and family room. Pillows add texture and personality to a room and can really transform a space. While there’s a variety of places to buy pillows online and in-store, hands down my favorite place is Etsy. Not only can you find unique, one of a kind pieces, it’s also nice knowing you’re contributing to a small shop owner. I mostly favor a vintage, worn-in look and feel when it comes to textiles that create a casual, comfortable and stylish space.

My #1 rule of thumb when buying pillows is don’t be afraid to use different patterns, sizes and colors, as long as the color scheme is cohesive. When mixing different patterns, incorporate a few small scale and large scale patterns and a solid or two.

I’ve rounded up my top 9 sources for throw pillows below! Scroll to the bottom of this post to shop my picks from each of the shops. And don’t forget to ‘favorite’ each shop on Etsy so you can easily go back later and view their products. A lot of these shops are on Instagram, so give them a follow! Note: most of the items are sold as pillow covers, so you’ll need to buy the inserts. One of the best places to buy inserts is IKEA, or you can purchase them on Etsy here. Happy shopping!

Camo Jacket + Denim Shorts

Jacket, Banana Republic. Shorts, AGOLDE. Shirt, Trouve. Bag, Serpui (Similar). Sunglasses, Ray Ban.

Happy Wednesday! This week has been busy busy getting some last minute things done before we leave on our two week honeymoon tomorrow. Seriously can’t believe it’s here! Follow along on Instagram for some BTS action and to see more of our Africa adventures.

Camo print is a huge trend for fall which I’m pretty excited about. I’ve always loved a good camo print and I think it gives an edgy look to any outfit. This jacket is a great summer to fall transition piece and looks super chic with denim and a casual tee. I have been on the hunt for a good camo jacket when I started planning outfits for our honeymoon to Africa. I looked all over and tried on a few, and am happy to report this one and this one are the best ones I have found yet.

I picked up this layering tee during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and am now regretting not ordering it in the other colors. It’s so soft and lightweight, and is perfectly fitted for layering. I paired it with relaxed fit denim shorts and white sneakers for a simple look.

Printed Midi Skirt

Skirt, J. Crew (size down). Top, Similar. Bag, Cult Gaia. Shoes, Similar. Sunglasses, Ray Ban.

Every season J. Crew comes out with a few one-of-a-kind prints that really hit it out of the park in terms of style, theme and color. This skirt caught my eye from their latest summer collection. Labeled the “postcard print“, it was featured in a few different styles from tops and bottoms to skirts and swimsuits. I was drawn to the midi skirt versus some of the other pieces in the collection as I thought it was the most versatile. It looks great paired with a simple white shirt and sandals during the summer months and I plan to wear it into fall with a leather jacket and sneakers (despite it being such a summery print)! I enjoy finding pieces that add a little fun to your wardrobe and will last for years to come. This skirt will be traveling on our honeymoon in a few weeks and I look forward to pairing it with a one piece swimsuit.

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

Trending: Bomber Jackets

Jacket, Who What Wear. Jeans, Similar here. Shoes, Dolce Vita. Tank, Old Navy.

Hi friends! Today I am sharing one of my favorite new looks for Fall that I recently wore on a chilly summer night here in Chicago. This bomber jacket is the perfect summer to fall transition piece. It’s lightweight and instantly adds a bit of edge to any outfit. I love the glen plaid pattern with a very subtle hint of purple in it. Bomber jackets are going to be a huge trend for fall, which I’m so excited about because jackets are my favorite pieces to buy for fall and winter!

I wanted to make the jacket stand out, so I opted for all black on top and bottom. I paired it with black jeans and I loved the way this belt elevated the entire look. I just scored these grey booties from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale which are so comfortable and I love the zipper detail. With a price tag under $40, this bomber jacket is a must-have for the fall season! Also eyeing this one and this one.
