We leave for our honeymoon in less than two months and I’ve been prepping my wardrobe for our big trip! We’ll be traveling for two weeks. I’m so excited we waited to take our honeymoon. It’s been nice relaxing post wedding and having this to look forward to. First we are going to Kenya where we will stay at two luxurious camps then we are spending the second half of the trip in the Seychelles. My husband and I have never been to either place so we are beyond excited for this adventure!
About this jumpsuit….When I laid eyes on this wide leg jumpsuit I knew it’d be perfect to take for both our safari and island adventures. I’m only packing versatile items that can be worn casually during the day and dressed up at night to avoid overpacking. It definitely has that “safari chic” vibe, doesn’t it? I plan on wearing this with heels at night for dinner and with flats during the day for exploring. This jumpsuit is so comfortable – I just love the super wide leg and off shoulder style. It looks much more expensive than it is! With Fall around the corner, this is the perfect piece for transitioning into the cooler months. But don’t wait long, this jumpsuit is selling out quickly so act fast while it’s still in stock!
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Early Access kicks off today! I know it can be a bit overwhelming sorting through the entire sale, and I also know it’s a bit hard thinking about Fall shopping when we’re in the heat of Summer. However, this sale is honestly one of the best times to invest in a few Fall wardrobe staples at great prices. All of the pieces on sale are brand new items that were just stocked for Fall. Some of my favorite pieces I own, especially jackets, have been purchased during this Sale in previous years. Plus, who doesn’t love a good deal? I know I do!
To get early access you must be a Nordstrom credit or debit cardholder. It’s super easy to get one and you can even apply for one in store and receive it that day, or simply apply online here! If you’re not a cardholder, the sale opens to the public on July 21st.
To make things as easy as possible for you, I’ve broken down the sale into categories for easy shopping and chose my favorites from the following categories: Jackets, Sweaters, Jeans, Shoes, Athleisure & Beauty, depending on what you might need or are looking for. I’ve already purchased this jacket in grey and these boots in grey (apparently I’m having a thing for grey right now). Whether you’re shopping the Early Access period or waiting until it’s open to the public, mark your calendars and don’t miss out! Simply click on any image below to shop the item!
Happy Tuesday friends! It’s been hot and humid in Chicago this week – just how I like it! Ha. This summer I’ve been gravitating more towards casual style and mainly buying pieces that can easily be dressed up or down with a simple shoe change. This embroidered boho top had me at hello – isn’t it cute!? The material is extremely soft and I especially love the detailing around the arms! Every season I can count on Old Navy for having the best selection of casual, on-trend pieces at a great price. Since you know I’m a big fan of mixing high and low, I paired this $22 top with cut off shorts and Valentino camouflage espadrilles for an easy daytime look. It would also look great with white jeans and heels.
With summer in full swing and no travel on the calendar until Labor Day for our honeymoon, I’m so excited to soak up these sunny months at home in Chicago. June was jam packed with three big trips and my 30th birthday celebration! If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that I was in Napa, Aruba (my first time visiting) and Colorado last month. There really is no place like home though!
My weekday wardrobe is usually a variation of this — a simple outfit paired with a structured blazer. J. Crew is my go-to for blazers, especially because they offer petite sizing which helps with sleeve and overall length. For the quality and style, they are a total steal (under $200) and instantly make any outfit look polished. I wear my blazers with everything from jeans and shorts, a silk or cotton tank and flats, to a slip dress and pumps. If you are feeling a little more fashion forward, you can opt for a double-breasted blazer like the one I’m wearing here, which can be worn unbuttoned or buttoned for a super chic look. Since it’s quite hot running around town in a blazer, I usually take it off in the car and throw it back on when I get out. The best part about blazers is they can be worn year-round, which makes them the ultimate closet staple.
This Janessa Leone hat has been on major repeat lately (which I’m sure you’ve noticed via Instagram) — I can’t seem to stop wearing it! When you finally find a hat that fits your small head like me, you wear it nonstop.
I’m SO excited to finally share details around our wedding weekend in Boca Grande. We patiently waited 8 weeks to get our photos back from our photographer but boy was it worth it. It’s crazy to think two months has already flown by since our wedding on April 22nd. After seeing the pictures it truly felt like it was yesterday! We had a blast going through all the photos from the Friday night party and entire wedding day, reliving every little detail and moment. I wish we could go back!
First up, I wanted to share details from Friday night. Since we had a destination wedding in Boca Grande, Florida, we opted for an ‘Island Welcome Party’ on Friday night where all of our guests were invited in lieu of a traditional ‘rehearsal dinner’ that limited the number of people invited. We wanted everyone to feel included and it really made the weekend that much more fun after everyone had a chance to mingle with all of our wedding guests before the wedding night.
My in-laws have a home in Boca Grande, so they graciously offered to host the Welcome Bash at their stunning home. It made for the perfect indoor/outdoor setting to kick off the wedding festivities. The party consisted of heavy hors d’oeuvres, an open bar and live music with a gorgeous view of the water as our backdrop. It was such a lovely evening getting to welcome our guests to the island before our wedding day. Prior to our families and friends arriving to the party, Drew and I took everything in as we knew it was going to be a busy night of mingling with everyone. My mother-in-law really nailed the theme of the party and all the details were beautiful – from the striped linens and the tropical floral arrangements to the delicious coastal-inspired menu, it couldn’t have been more perfect!
As for the attire, the theme was Island Chic. I wanted to steer away from wearing white and have a little fun with the theme of the party. My sister spotted my dress online and I immediately knew it was the one. I loved the high/low style with the nautical stripes on top. The flower crown was a fun way to add a little bohemian touch to the outfit! Drew especially looked sharp in his white jeans and linen shirt, pink loafers and light blue linen sport coat topped off with a palm print pocket square. Scroll down to see full details of the party and sources. Stay tuned for our wedding day details!
