While I don’t want to say goodbye to Summer just yet, I have been thinking ahead for my fall wardrobe. With a few key shoes in your rotation, you’ll be ready to take on fall with your best foot forward (get it? ha). For casual outfits and weekends, I like to stick to the classic chelsea boot, white sneaker and slip on loafer. For work, a block heel pump is a must-have; the thickness of the heel gives your feet a little relief when you’re wearing them all day. My favorite purchase from last year by far was the Stuart Weitzman ‘Lowland‘ Over the Knee Boot. It’s definitely a splurge, but so worth it. This boot is great for taking your summer dresses into fall. Scroll down to see my save or splurge fall shoe guide!
If you follow me on snapchat (username: houseandhanger) you might have seen yesterday that we are building new construction! We are so excited to begin this home building adventure together. For me, it’s a design lover’s dream! I’ve been busy brainstorming all of the new design ideas and already have a good idea of the look we are going for. From picking flooring and hardware, to paint, fixtures and furniture (the list goes on) we have been compiling all of our inspiration over the last few months to prepare for this big project! You can check out my new home inspiration board on Pinterest. Think bright white and neutral with a bit of a coastal feel (insert: shiplap, wood, textured linen, jute rugs). Given it’s cold in Chicago for six months out of the year, we want this new space to feel like a retreat. Somewhere we can feel relaxed and almost like we are on vacation to lift our spirits when it’s gloomy and cold outside.
When I stumbled upon this home designed by Andrew Kotchen and Matthew Berman of Workshop/APD, I was immediately drawn to the color scheme and mix of textures throughout the home. From the large-scale chandelier and oversized driftwood coffee table, to the bright whites and blues and earthy textures, this space feels cozy yet sophisticated – the look we are after. While I can’t figure out which room is my favorite just yet, I am certainly inspired by the natural elements and modern feel of this coastal chic home.
Stay tuned for more home updates over the next few months! Can’t wait to share the progress with you all.
As a longtime fan of fashion blogger Julie Sariñana of Sincerely Jules, I was pumped to hear that her clothing line will now be available through Nordstrom. Julie’s signature style is a combination of laid-back California cool with a bit of street style edge — my kind of look. The designer creates a chic mix of denim, casual dresses, graphic t-shirts and outerwear in neutral colors. I’ve rounded up my favorite pieces from her recent collaboration with Nordstrom below – happy shopping!
