I’m SO excited to finally share details around our wedding weekend in Boca Grande. We patiently waited 8 weeks to get our photos back from our photographer but boy was it worth it. It’s crazy to think two months has already flown by since our wedding on April 22nd. After seeing the pictures it truly felt like it was yesterday! We had a blast going through all the photos from the Friday night party and entire wedding day, reliving every little detail and moment. I wish we could go back!
First up, I wanted to share details from Friday night. Since we had a destination wedding in Boca Grande, Florida, we opted for an ‘Island Welcome Party’ on Friday night where all of our guests were invited in lieu of a traditional ‘rehearsal dinner’ that limited the number of people invited. We wanted everyone to feel included and it really made the weekend that much more fun after everyone had a chance to mingle with all of our wedding guests before the wedding night.
My in-laws have a home in Boca Grande, so they graciously offered to host the Welcome Bash at their stunning home. It made for the perfect indoor/outdoor setting to kick off the wedding festivities. The party consisted of heavy hors d’oeuvres, an open bar and live music with a gorgeous view of the water as our backdrop. It was such a lovely evening getting to welcome our guests to the island before our wedding day. Prior to our families and friends arriving to the party, Drew and I took everything in as we knew it was going to be a busy night of mingling with everyone. My mother-in-law really nailed the theme of the party and all the details were beautiful – from the striped linens and the tropical floral arrangements to the delicious coastal-inspired menu, it couldn’t have been more perfect!
As for the attire, the theme was Island Chic. I wanted to steer away from wearing white and have a little fun with the theme of the party. My sister spotted my dress online and I immediately knew it was the one. I loved the high/low style with the nautical stripes on top. The flower crown was a fun way to add a little bohemian touch to the outfit! Drew especially looked sharp in his white jeans and linen shirt, pink loafers and light blue linen sport coat topped off with a palm print pocket square. Scroll down to see full details of the party and sources. Stay tuned for our wedding day details!
